If you're reading this, you could be charged for sedition!
First they made us register our prepaid mobile numbers under the guise of a pre-emptive strike against terrorism, soon bloggers might be put through the same treatment. Yeah, you heard me, our government is planning some sort of blogging registration act. This time as a measure to to prevent 'disharmony and lies' among the Malaysian society.
While nothing is concrete yet at the moment, even the idea of such laws cast an unfavourably draconian light on our government, whose leaders recently claimed in a recent political party gathering that all Malaysians benefit from equal rights. Yeah, right. So why so antsy over a few para of words posted on the internet? Blogs are mediums for people to express their opinions and frustrations which they normally wouldn't be able to do in the real world setting for fear of being gunned down outside their homes when taking out the trash in the morning. And as a friend of mine put it, there's no smoke without fire. So you'd have to admit that some of the 'lies' out there hold some vestige of truth.
I suggest the authorities watch less reruns of X-files and put their conspiracy theory-laden minds to rest for now and concentrate on other more 'dangerous' net content. Such as child pornography and excessive cam whoring. Okay, I was kidding bout that last one. Cam whoring is the very fabric that holds together the blogging community. Coz we all REALLY need to know how different you look compared to last week.
